Today, I bring you this delicious vegan queso that I made over the holidays. It was Christmas Eve and we were celebrating at my sister’s house. I wanted to bring an appetizer but with all the dietary restrictions in my family, I couldn’t figure out what to make that wasn’t 10000% boring.
I had cashews in my pantry which I know are super versatile. So I did a quick google search to see what I can do with them. This Pinch Of Yum recipe popped up so I used that as inspiration to make this smoky vegan queso dip. Aside from using smoky spices, I also added Califia’s Cashew Homestyle Nut Milk instead of water to make this queso extra creamy and delicious. Califia’s Cashew Homestyle Nut Milk is made with oats, sea salt and coconut cream. It’s soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, kosher, vegan, and BPA-free.
I served this vegan queso dip with chips and celery sticks. And it was a hit, my friends! My entire family was so shocked by its amazing flavor. They couldn’t believe it was vegan and dairy-free.
How does it taste? Smoky with a kick. Not very spicy. It’s creamy and most importantly, so easy to make.

5-Ingredient Smoky Vegan Queso (Dairy-Free!)
- 2 cups unsalted raw cashews
- 1 cup Califia Homestyle Cashew Milk
- 1 tablespoon chipotle powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- Salt + pepper to taste
- Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. Serve with chips or veggies. Enjoy!
