I know what you’re thinking…and the answer is no, I never get tired of eating seafood.
It’s my second favorite food (after Latin food, of course!). Seriously, when I visit a non-hispanic restaurant, 9 times out of 10, my entree has some kind of fish in it. But I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about this millions of times.
So moving on. ;)
While in Whole Foods the other day, I came across these mini pretzel buns which I thought were ADORABLE! Pretzel buns are so good, right? Oddly enough, I’m not a huge fan of actual soft pretzels. Give me a pretzel bun though and I’m allllll about it.

The mix of the spicy from the spice blend on the salmon and sweet from the pineapple make the perfect combo! I love these for entertaining at home or even as appetizers.
Also, pro tip – cut the salmon BEFORE pan frying. I thought it would be easier to cut the already cooked salmon but it was a bit messy. It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things but if you’re OCD like me, you’ll get upset at the not-so-perfect squares.
Whatever, we ate them anyway! :)
Also, I usually place the condiments on the side but you should definitely add a good 2 tablespoons of your favorite mustard or mayo to each one of these babies.

Easy-to-make blackened salmon on mini pretzel buns with sliced avocado, pineapple, red onions and baby greens! Perfect for dinner or entertaining!
- 1.5 pound salmon fillet
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- olive oil for pan frying
- 12 mini pretzel buns
- Hass avocado , sliced
- pineapple , diced
- red onions , diced
- micro greens
- mayo or mustard , optional
Combine the paprika, cayenne, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Set aside.
Cut salmon into 2-inch squares so you get 12 portions. Season all sides of salmon with the spices blend.
In a skillet set over medium-high heat, heat oil and cook salmon for about 6-8 minutes until cooked through. Set aside.
Spread desired mayo or mustard on the mini pretzel buns. Place avocado on a bun then top with a square of salmon followed by pineapple, red onions and micro greens. Serve and enjoy!
