You guys know how much I love seafood. It’s a problem! When I got out to eat, I usually order seafood!
I went to an Italian restaurant recently and what did I order? Spinach pasta with shrimp! Whenever I go to my favorite neighborhood bar (Flanigans!), what do I order? Blackened dolphin. Well, sometimes ribs and wings but NOT THE POINT.

The fantastic Ree aka the Pioneer Woman had a super simple recipe for honey soy salmon that I saved for a day like today. I used to always make salmon in the oven. Today, however, making this honey soy glazed salmon took just 10 minutes on the stove!
Plus, this spicy kale salad. OH MYLANTA. I kept it simple – olive oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. SO GOOD.
As you’ve seen multiple times on this blog, I absolutely love the spicy, sweet or salty, sweet mix. And, I’m all about simple too! This is just another example of that. ;)

Brown Sugar and Chili-Rubbed Salmon with Avocado Crema
- 4 salmon fillets 5 oz each, wild caught
- salt and pepper to taste
- 6 tablespoons olive oil divided
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
- 6 tablespoons honey
- 6 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 limes
- 2 cups kale leaves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- salt and pepper to taste
Season the salmon with salt and pepper. In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter over medium high heat.
Cook salmon for 5 minutes on the first side, being careful not to burn the surface. Carefully flip to the other side and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside. Repeat with other 3 salmon fillets.
In the same skillet, add the butter, honey, soy sauce, and juice from the limes. Stir and cook over medium heat until the glaze is thick, about 5 minutes. Taste and adjust the flavors, if desired. Cook for another minute or two if you like the glaze very thick.
Place the salmon back on the skillet and spoon the sauce all over the top.
To make the spicy kale salad, toss kale leaves, olive oil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper all together in a bowl. On a plate, serve salmon with kale salad. Enjoy!
