Cuban Rice and Beans Recipe (Arroz con Frijoles Negro)

Arroz con frijoles negro is a classic Cuban rice and beans recipe made with silky, savory black beans served on top of fluffy white rice.

Soak beans overnight then boil to soften the next day. Sauté green pepper, onions, and garlic at medium heat until softened.

Stir in remaining bean ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce to low heat. Cook for 20 minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings, if needed.

Simmer and cook beans

Bring all rice ingredients to a boil. Reduce to low. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat but do not open the lid for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
