This sauce is no joke, guys. People go crazy for this sauce!

And I bet you will too.

Ever been to “Pollo Tropical”? Unless you’ve lived in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee or Texas, you have no idea what I’m talking about here.

Pollo Tropical (literally translated to “tropical chicken”) is a Caribbean-inspired fast food concept with meals so flavorful, you won’t even think it’s fast food!

Let’s be honest, if you’re going to go for fast food, it has to be GOOD fast food. Am I right!?

Aside from Pollo Tropical’s citrusy marinated chicken, mojo pork, yuca fries, wraps, salads and sandwiches, they have a sauce bar! Curry mustard, fresh salsa, sweet BBQ (like my guava BBQ sauce!), hot sauce, you know all those tropical flavors that you just can’t get enough of.

My favorite from the bunch? You guessed it! Cilantro garlic sauce!

To be honest, I hadn’t tried cilantro garlic sauce until a few years ago. I was always a curry mustard girl myself.

Then one day, my friend and I were at the Pollo Tropical drive-thru after happy hour and she suggested that I try their cilantro garlic sauce.

Sure, why not? She’s also a Pollo Tropical fanatic like me so I trusted her opinion.

OH. MY. SAUCE. This thing is addicting. Creamy, garlicky, tang from the lime and with cilantro? I was HOOKED!

I know some people hate cilantro because they say it tastes like soap. Yeah, soap. Are you one of those? Hopefully not, if you’re reading this post!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, a few years back, it was said that a small percentage of the population can pick up on the smell of certain chemicals that are in both cilantro AND soap which is why they said cilantro tastes like soap. Quite the nose they have, huh?

I’m definitely not one of those people!

I love cilantro and when you mix it with sour cream, garlic, and lime – I mean what’s not to love.

Immediately after trying cilantro garlic sauce for the first time, I knew I had to figure out how to make this myself so I could drench it on EVERYTHING.

From tacos to chicken wings, this cilantro garlic sauce compliments any dish well.

Top Ten Recipes of 2016!

Facebook’s throwback feature reminds me that every year I say the same thing: THIS YEAR FLEW.

Except I really do think 2016 flew. Wasn’t it just January?!

This year was rough for a lot of people I know and for the world in general.

I have to say though it was an incredible year for me, personally and career-wise. There were a lot of positive changes made in my life and, I don’t even feel like the same person that started the year. I’ve grown, learned and succeeded.

What I had initially planned to do in January has taken a different turn because as we know, God always has other plans. SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED. All good things.

One of them being this blog. I started this blog in February of this year. A lot of people don’t believe me when I say that but I did! Look! This was my first post. Eek, gotta update those photos ASAP.

I initially started an Instagram account, just for fun, posting photos from all the delicious restaurants I’d been to in Miami.

For years, I was a Yelp Elite and would experience the BEST of the best here in Miami I also used to dine out A LOT. Things began to shift and evolve slowly into something I’d always wanted which was to work for myself.

And what better way to start than to bring all your passions together and start A Sassy Spoon!

In my past life, I would manage blogs and social media accounts for clients in the culinary industry (I still do sometimes).

Now I have my own baby that has grown so much in the past year (and still has a lot to go!).

This year alone, I’ve developed so many fun recipes, learned how to properly use a DSLR, how to edit photos, a bit of web development, design, networked with other bloggers, and even began monetizing. I also rebranded!

Most importantly, this blog has been on and popping ALL THANKS TO YOU!
